STREAKIN' MOHICAN DOMINATES ARAPAHOE PARK SPRINT
Claimed for $32,000 last out in a gate-to-wire win at Betfair Hollywood Park, Streakin' Mohican came to Arapahoe Park on Sunday and led all the way for a dominating win in the 6-furlong, $40,000 Arapahoe Park Sprint. Jockey Travis Wales took the 5-year-old chestnut gelding straight to the front through fast fractions of 21.65 for the opening quarter-mile and 44.07 for the half-mile to win by four lengths in a final time of 1:08.53 as the even-money favorite.
No It Ain't, who had come out of two mediocre stakes performances at Fonner Park in Nebraska, returned to sprinting and closed for second at 22-1 for owners Vance Alfrey and Stuart Eskew, trainer Temple Rushton and jockey Michael Phillip Iammarino.
Pack Your Bags was third at 8-1 for owner Eli Diamant, trainer Molly Pearson and jockey Russell Vicchrilli in his Arapahoe debut after racing predominantly in Iowa and New Mexico.
The field of 11 for the Arapahoe Park Sprint featured horses who have made their most recent start in eight different states or provinces, arguably making it the highest quality renewal of the race. |
